MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER

Doç.Dr.Enis Erkin
General Manager

Dear Partners,

Most of the turnover of our company which operates both in agricultural and veterinary chemicals comes from the sales of agricultural chemicals. The turnover in agricultural chemicals has been 78,097,343 YTL whereas the turnover in veterinary pharmaceuticals has been 4,107,645 YTL in 2006. HEKTAŞ has been active in the agricultural chemicals industry for 50 years and has extended its area of activity to veterinary pharmaceuticals in 2005. HEKTAŞ, being one of the leader companies in the agricultural industry with a market share of 21.81%, aims to accomplish an effective and consistent growth rate in the veterinary pharmaceuticals as well, in the upcoming years.

Our company has been affected by the developments in the industry. Agricultural industry has grown by 2% in 2004 and 5.6% in 2005. The growth for the first nine months of 2006 is -1.2%. While the share of the agricultural industry in the Gross National Product was 37,800 million US Dollars in 2005 which is the highest of the last four years, it is 27,900 million US Dollars for the first nine months of 2006. Our agricultural products export volume tends to increase over the last five years and expected to reach 10,000 million US Dollars by the end of 2006. 2,653 million YTL of Direct Income Support has been made in 2006. At the same time, support for stockbreeding increased by 8 times in the period of 2002-2006 and as of the first 11 months of 2006, 678 million YTL have been received.

The agricultural industry in Turkey is a dynamic sector which is continuously growing at a fast pace. Agricultural and veterinary chemical industries have significant impact not only on maintaining this continuous growth but also on the expansion of the industry by contributing to the competition in the nutrition industry and providing quality and safety along the line of food production chain.

The size of the agricultural industry in the world has reached to 33,600 million US Dollars in 2005 with an annual increase of 3.8%. The annual global growth rate in agricultural chemicals market is expected to be around 0.9% over the next four years. The growth rate of agricultural chemicals market in our country increased by 14.72% in YTL terms and 9% in US Dollars terms in 2006. The market size of agricultural chemicals in our country is approximately 300 million US Dollars. We expect this market to continue to grow in the following years. The most striking reason for this expectation is the rate of utilization of the chemicals in our country is still lower than that of the developed countries.

The basic target of our company, which recently has celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2006, is to sustain a continuous development and great success in providing high quality products to the Turkish agriculture industry with the contribution of all HEKTAŞ family.

We aim to maintain our market leadership in the industry as well as increase our turnover and the rate of profitability in 2007.
